Human Resources Manager

Role responsibilities:

This position is responsible for providing facility level leadership in all areas of Human Resources that affect employees at the assigned facility. Act as an internal consultant to local management to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of Human Resources services to employees at the assigned facility. Provide management with guidance on decisions affecting day-to-day employee management issues as well as long-term strategies to achieve positive business outcomes

  • Be strategic partner at the plant leadership level
  • Ensure alignment of HR processes with overall HR strategic and operating goals
  • Lead effort to coordinate and support the negotiation process for labor agreements
  • Manage grievances and union meetings at a local level with escalation to corporate HR.
  • Counsel, advise and train management on performance-based issues, facilitate any formal or informal complaints to resolution.
  • Provide employee relations counseling and problem solving for managers and employees to ensure a productive work environment, remaining consistent with company values and policies and in adherence to state and federal regulatory law.
  • Drive employee engagement and satisfaction while balancing employee concerns
  • Recruiting Management:
  • Partner with hiring managers to determine staffing needs/levels
  • Manage all aspects of recruitment strategies for both hourly and salaried employees including but not limited to: posting jobs and recruiting for open positions, coordinate screenings, interviews, and selecting new hire candidates
  • Creation and distribution of offer packet and other candidate communication
  • Onboarding Management of new candidates
  • Onboarding/orientation of new associates
  • Process the administration of employee benefits, compensation, performance appraisal programs, personnel record keeping, unemployment claims and training.
  • Administer payroll for hourly employees
  • Manage the annual performance review process and increases at the plant site
  • Manage the leave of absences for all assigned plant employees. 
  • Managing the local plant succession process such as Identify all levels of internal candidates through succession planning process. (high potential candidates, low performers, “A” performers)
  • Assist in creating development plans for each type of candidate
  • Identify and determine management training needs
  • Performs general clerical duties including but not limited to filing, photocopying, faxing and mailing. 
  • Lead and develop HR professionals reporting to role
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Our requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organization development, employee relations, safety, employee engagement, and employee development.
  • Better than average written and spoken communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop HR department staff members.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the executive management team that provides overall company leadership and direction.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include knowledge of Excel and skills in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices and experience working with a corporate employment law attorney.
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources recognition and engagement programs and processes.
  • Evidence of the ability to practice and coach organization managers in the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational management skills.

 

Languages:

  • Fluent in English

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Industrial Psychology, or related field

 

Experience:

  • Ten or more years of Managing Human Resource function in a unionized  manufacturing environment.
  • Has direct leadership experience for a 2+ HR or safety professionals.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment law.
  • Working knowledge of a broad range of Human Resources best practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong Labor Relations experience
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Effective program and change management skills
  • Ability to influence decision makers.
